Cheney: Not Zany
Zell Miller was full of fire and brimstone. Dick Cheney, well, wasn't. Cheney isn't the most inspiring of speakers, is he? I think he was a little boring, but I don't think that's a problem.
I think one of the goals of that speech was to contrast Cheney with John "Boy Wonder" Edwards. Cheney is a serious man for serious times. He's not a token VP that gets pulled out to go to state funerals in Luxemburg. He's doing real work. He's going to just kill John Edwards in the debates.

i admit, i stopped paying attention to cheney, so i missed a lot of it. it was dull. i do think that he would have been great if he would have just said, "ok, im boring. i'm dull. i'm not a great speaker like edwards.... but think about the people that you trust. your pastor. your priest. your banker. your accountant. your insurance agent. your stock broker. you trust those people with what is dearest to you. would you hire 'the life of the party' to defend your house? your family? of course not. then why would you hire one to defend your country?"

I think we need to submit J F Kerry for a fourth purple heart, Zell Miller inflicted more of a wound than Charlie ever did! |

Cheney has far more experience, is more intelligent, and is better tempered for a debate than Edwards. Chunks of Edwards will be in Cheney's stool after their debate. |
