  • New Comment System

       March 07, 2005

ok, commenting is back on now. it may be spotty for a little bit, as i work the kinks out.

as you might notice, i've written & implemented a new commenting system, and have converted all of the old comments over to the new system. (kris, you maybe wanna update the "comverted comment" user profile to be something explanatory and/or funny? ;-))

you now need an account to post comments. you dont need to provide an email address to get an account.

right now, you can start posting right away. however, i may soon make it so that you cant post comments for at least 24 hours after registering. any thoughts on this idea?

let me know if you run into any problems

    things to do:

    - fix the main page so it accurately shows # of comments.

    - add option for poster to receive email of new comments.

i should probably make the date prettier

and change the tab-order on the form so you miss the "get one here" link

I think we should definitely let people post as soon as they register. I mean, it's not like we're going to *do* anything in those 24 hours anyway, right?

I'm waiting for someone to complain that this is a "fascist way of limiting our right to free speech!"

BUSHITLER BUSH LIED KIDS DIED HALLIBURTON

(and smileys. can we have smileys? the credit.com discussion board has a wide range of smileys, to suit all our needs! can we link or cut/paste?)

kris, the idea is to discourage comments of the sort in the quarters thread. those people want to shoot off their inane remarks then never return. let them sign up, they'll get a message saying they have to wait an hour or 2 or 20 before posting, and 99% of those comments will be eliminated.

Let's not make it an entire day. I don't want to discourage new people from commenting.

but "new people" arent "new people" if they dont come back again. in that case, they're just random assholes.

Can we just see how it goes for awhile before you make them wait? Just give it a couple of days and see if it cuts down on some of the quarter crap. If not, then make a waiting period.

    sure, daddy, i'll implement smileys.

where is the credit.com board? maybe i'm retarded but i cant find it.

i dont know what you mean by "link or cut and paste," im hoping to figure it out by looking at the site.

if youre asking if you can make links to other places, then yes, that works.

i wrote it to only allow some html, right now the following tags work

    a href
    img
    br
    li
    p
    blockquote
    ul
    li

umm. there might be others that im not remembering. let me know if there is a tag that you want but i dont allow.

    Dude, you like---TOTALLY RULE!!!

It's actually creditinfocenter.com. Oops. Sorry. I only use my brain when I'm enraged by liberals.

    URL:

    http://www.debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/phpBB2/

Otherwise, it's creditinfocenter.com, and select "discussion".

What I meant was if some other site already has a plethora of images, it may be possible to right click, "copy image" or "copy image location", and paste it under "Leave a comment".

On the creditinfocenter.com message board, you have to select "post reply" to see the emoticons.

    Cheers!
