Today's quote of the day (a somewhat sporadic site feature) comes from Eugene Volokh:
I regret that this has gotten my colleagues involved in all this, but this is America and I'm not going to be nice to Nazis to try to get them to go away.
Excellent attitude, excellent point.
The next bit is pretty great as well:
So, yeah, we're Jews. Yeah, we're overrepresented on university faculties, in law and medicine, in the Senate, on the Supreme Court. Speaking of Nazis, we were overrepresented on the Manhattan Project, too.
I admit, the above quote makes me smile. I'd be remiss, however, if I didn't mention that the topic of his post is certainly no laughing matter. Frightening (and perplexing) that there are people in the world who would do the things he links to, isn't it?

| Yes. Neo-nazis and white supremists are essentially no different than Islamofascists, are they?
What's so galling to me is the way people throw out these references to Bush as Hitler or America as a fascist state. Do they understand how that diminishes the evil that fascism and Hitler and neo-Nazis and Islamofascists actually are? I don't think so. |

Actually, what I liked best about that post was this quote:
The most powerful country in the world, America, is one of the ones that has been most open to Jews. Look at the most anti-Semitic countries in recent history: Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, the Arab world. Right up there at the forefront of civilization and power, aren't they? Is it all the workings of The Conspiracy? Or is it just that the sorts of idiots who hate Jews do other idiotic things, too? |

| Heck, I was saving that quote to use in the "right-wing terrorist" thread.
I'd condemn the actions which Volokh links to, but since I don't think Lindsey Graham is a racist I fear that condemnation would come off as insincere..... |

| you're right, kris & john, that other quote is great as well. pretty much every sentence in volokh's post is quotable. sort of similar to a delillo novel. |

| Cheese,
Not sure what your post has to do with the topic. You know, we do have a "submit a link" feature (hint hint). |

| I made the mistake of clicking the links....
...I almost vomited on my keyboard. These Nazi freaks are not worth me having to buy a new laptop. It's frightening, nauseating... Here's a quote from the lead freak: "We whites who wish to continue being white..." WTF is THAT supposed to mean? A long time ago, a friend and I postulated that the "assholia" gene knows no boundary--it is not specific to any race, gender or religion. So, you asshats who wish to continue being asshat may indulge your asshattery. It kills me to say that, but we have freedom of speech here, and I *have* to allow this bile to exist in order to intellectually justify my right to listen to Twisted Sister. |
