       April 27, 2005

The show begins and my first impression is that Scott, Constantine and Carrie look sad. Could they really be the bottom three? Seacrest is in and he'll soon give us the scoop. Once again, Ryan is Mr. Conservative. That's ever so disappointing. Maybe Paula will be drunk. Ah well, a girl can dream.

Group sing time. Oh crap, it's ACB (another crappy ballad). Bo makes "Emotions" momentarily sound okay, but then the moment passes and it's back to the schlockathon.

Random thought: Carrie & Bo have some very comfortable body language. Should Bo's identical girlfriend and my cowriter James be worried? I think so.

Once again, Ryan is putting the contestants into two groups. You don't want to be in Scott's group, do you? Here's how it goes:

    Vonzell: far side
    Carrie: near side
Bo: near side (so, Vonzell must be in the bottom three, huh?)
Federov: far side (Anthony is not pleased)

And, we won't get to the rest until after the break. My prediction: Vonzell, Federov & Scott are the bottom three, as I predicted last night. I wonder if, during this break, Vonzell and Federov are practicing not making the "d'oh" face when Scott joins their group.

Ryan makes Scott and Constantine pick the group they think they belong with. They both stand with Carrie & Bo. If I were Vonzell or Federov I'd be kicking their asses right about now. Ryan announces that Carrie & Bo are in the top group. Duh.

WFT? Constantine is the bottom three and effing Scott is safe again. America, what the HELL are you thinking. You sicken me.

Ryan sends Vonzell back to safety. I think this means that Federov, who did the best job last night, is probably going home, but of course they're dragging this out through another commercial break. While we wait, once again I'll ask, "America, WTF, mate?". Not only is Scott a gross, woman-beating, punkass thug, he was terrible last night.

And we're back to the Anthony Federov Memorial version of American Idol. Except, Constantine is going home!!! It's Constantine! Wow, I'm shocked. But, I'm slightly less angry at America. USA! USA!

Constantine makes a classy exit, while Scott looks a little too pleased by the result. Paula is practically balling. Or, alternatively, she's just drunk.

    Wow, oh what a night.

    I called it yesterday.

i'm glad to see constantine go - funny, b/c as kris has grown to like him, i've grown to despise him.

Wow!! This one blew me away! I knew he wouldn't make it to the finals, but thought for sure that it was Scotty the Body that was going home tonight....sure was wishful thinking! He was just so horrible last night! I really like Anthony and am glad he is still on....but why didn't Scott get kicked off? He must be in some "mafia" type thing 'cause it seems kinda fishy to me that he is still around, let alone in the top three!

he had me with Bohemian Rhapsody, but then he lost me again last week. I'm okay with this. I'm surprised at how upset I was with the prospect of Federov going home. That little Ukranian has grown on me.

you just like him (now) because his parents have accents.

hey, an accent turns a 6 into an 8, much like two female 5s kissing turns them each into a 7

At first I was outraged that Scotty The Beater didn't even hit the bottom three.

And then Constantine's name was announced and suddenly I FELT MUCH BETTER.

I have a couple of thoughts about Scotty, but I'm letting them gel into either a post or a lengthy comment...

Hey, how about the Ford Pimpomercial? Those wacky kids...

Although I do admit the part where Boringov emerged from his Refrigerator Camouflage surprised me. Then the followups actually kind of made me like him, in a defense attorney kind of way. I guess Stalkerov is much more interesting than Boringov.....

I can't even come up with a credible theory about why Scott is still in this. It's like people are voting for him out of spite.

OMG!!! I cant believe, let me say that again, I cant believe Scott is still on this show. Who the hell is he paying to call in votes for him. Like Seacrest says, you have to vote for your favs. Not that Constantine was mine, but for the love of GOD!! what the hell is going on. To keep that no talent, squinty eyed, weeble wobble on the show is killing me.

I could just chuck right now!! We have to start a movement, petition, ANYTHING!! to get Scott the FatBody off this show.IF he makes it through one more show, I am done. HMMM maybe I am a bit histerical right now.

    ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Kris, I think that's part of it. I mean, let's face it...there's a sizeable part of the audience which thinks AI is just garbage. Not without a certain amount of justification, I should add. So I'm starting to think that yeah, there's a bunch of people who just want to mess with the show and are voting for a crappy guy. But that would require either a Borg Queen to coordinate it all or there'd be more chatter about it than I can see.

Another theory is that the producers are gaming things to keep The Beater on as long as possible in order to boost ratings. The theory is we'll tune in next week to watch the Scotty Train Wreck and again watch with bated breath to see if he FINALLY gets the axe. But that theory requires a little too much conspiracy-tinfoil for my taste...

Honestly, I think it's just a bunch of people watching who don't necessarily follow the show outside of the hour and a half every week. They don't read about Scott's travails. They don't share opinions over the Internet. All they know about Scott is what they hear on the show, and the show has (for better or worse) tended to paint him as an EveryMan. So those people vote for whom they perceive as the underdog...the guy they want to get a fair shake.

Either that, or the Matrix is seriously in need of rebooting...

i dunno, if someone was on the show from wisconsin, i'd probably vote for them just b/c i'm from their state.

as far as getting votes goes, ohio aint a bad state to be from. most of our presidents have been from ohio.

I am starting to have this theory, People are voting for Scott so Simon will be stuck giving him the million dollar contract. Can't believe he is still there.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:21 PM      rosie
I think Scott must have a computer program that is helping his votes - that is the only thing that could explain his safety each week.

If he is America's idol, I'm leaving the country!

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:22 PM      kris
you think Scott is smart enough to "have" a computer program? i don't think so ;-)

i think that maybe too many people felt sorry for Scott when Simon told him to pack his bags. we can all only hope that Simon just LOVES him next week.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:26 PM      james
maybe he bullied a computer programmer into writing him one

are you just trying to egg me into making another "you're dead" remark tonight?

but yeah, that could be. although, i don't really think it's rigged or anything. i bet many people have no idea about his domestic abuse issues and they're still voting for him because they feel sorry for him.

I'm outraged constantine got voted off. I think he should have been in the top three. The media screwed him by telling us his band had a deal. After that I think people quit voting for him. Scott should have went home, He Sucks! And I live in Ohio. He has a mixed kid and beat his ex. Thats two strikes against him. He should go home and get a real job. My votes were spilt now there all going to Bo.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:41 PM      kris
Who will Constantine's voters vote for now? On one hand, they could blame Scott for his booting and vote for everyone else. On the other hand, they could rage against the Idol machine and vote for Scott to screw the show.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:41 PM      buttershots
I seen his family on the news with three or more cell phones just voting over and over.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:42 PM      kris
As well they should. If I knew someone on the show I'd do the same thing. Everyone would.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:53 PM      james
they enourage people to vote multiple times, the only rule is that you can't use voting machines.

i'd definitely recommend NOT voting using your cingular wireless phone, though - i did once and cingular wouldn't stop phone-spamming me with text messages about american idol. "come here to get a ringtone, "can you answer these trivia questions?"

Vote for idol = get a lifetime of text message phone spam from cingular.

    #  April 27th, 2005 9:54 PM      kris
and they should encourage multiple voting. the goal of the producers is to find someone with a large, passionate fanbase, NOT to find someone that people hate the least.

    #  April 27th, 2005 10:01 PM      rosie
I don't believe that multiple voting shows a passionate fan base. Charge for the vote and you'll find out if anyone would ever buy a record of any of the so-called idols.

You get what you pay for with free!

I like the idea of "spoiling" the show with voting for Scott.

    #  April 27th, 2005 10:01 PM      sara
Hey American voters, come on..put Scott out of his misery!! Do not let what happened tonight happen again next week..sara from canada

    #  April 27th, 2005 10:03 PM      james
well i dont know about that, kris - the goal is to find someone with a broad following, not someone with a few radical fans that have nothing better to do than dial. when selling concert tickets and CD's, the mad-dialer still only buys one.

it's probably just too impractical to enforce single-voting rules. they could probably enforce a 1 vote per phone line rule, but then you have the problem with multiple people in the household wanting to vote for different people, or people being "torn" between 2 candidates. not to even mention the "disenfranchisement" that would result b/c certain demographics of fans have multiple phone lines (land + land or land + cell) while others don't.

    #  April 27th, 2005 10:04 PM      kris
Charge for the vote and you'll end up with a much, much, much less popular show and a winner that doesn't reflect popular opinion anymore.

The kids that speed dial for their favorite for two hours are the same kids that are going to go to concerts, buy the CD, download the ringtones, buy the DVDs, etc.

    #  April 27th, 2005 11:45 PM      BaldEagle
    YES!!!

I have renewed faith in the american public. The smarm-meister Constantscream is gone.

It's Carrie and Bo in the final.

    #  April 28th, 2005 12:08 AM      rosie
If you don't think programs are being used to influence the vote check out this web site.

or if you want to save the $15 just open up a dos prompt and run a batch file like

    :START
    ECHO "ATDT 18005551212" > COM1
    GOTO START

people use these programs, im sure, but i'm also sure that idol disqualifies votes like these all of the time.

    #  April 28th, 2005 12:22 AM      james
on another note, it would take me literally 20 minutes to write a program that dialed a number repeatedly. think anyone would buy it? ;-)

    #  April 28th, 2005 12:24 AM      james
    and even more importantly,

    there is a canadian idol????
    whaa???!

    there is!
    that's great, eh

is there also a "calgary star?"
