  • Seeing the Light in Seattle

       July 08, 2005

Homocon finds a great example of how the media have suddenly rediscovered that the Islamofascists are, you know, evil. Check out these two political cartoons from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (by the same artist, deliciously enough).

On May 24th, it was all about those evil Americans down in Gitmo torturing poor, innocent Muslims:

Today, however, this same artist is painting an entirely different picture of the War on Terror (hey, this thing's for real!):

How many people have to die and how many times and places do we need to be attacked before we all get that these people are not nice, they're not victims and they do want to kill us?

I'm really mad at the Republican Party right now, but Bush's response to the terrorism has been right on from 9/11 and it's the reason I'll still support him, even when the rest of his agenda ticks me off.

Bushes response to terrorism was to invade Iraq which had no links to Al queada or 9-11 or have WMDs (as the UN told bush).

All this has done is increase the number of young muslim men willing to fight against the US and its allies.

The UK fought the IRA- if we had followed bushes reponse type we would have invaded and occupied ireland....and of course totally fucked up things for years to come (as has happened in Iraq).

Yeah, we really fucked up allowing those 8 million Iraqis to vote.

Fuck you, you fuckin' fuckwad. Don't you have a bus to catch?

    Daddy

"Fuck you, you fuckin' fuckwad. Don't you have a bus to catch? "

I am sure readers here will agree that our verbal dexterity, patience and arguements are beautiful to behold.

    lol

Yes they will agree. Especially with the patience part. You're still posting here, and will be in the future, jonts.

Absent the usage of supposed anglo-saxon expletives, the notions in message #1 are true. Iraq didn't attack us and we've created even more jihadistas and further endangered ourselves. What happened in London is horrible, but it doesn't provide an excuse either for Iraq or Guantanamo.

    Agreed, MBRLR.

The sad thing is that bigbro represents alot of republicans in the US right now- they desparately want to beleive that the only motive behind terror attacks is a will to commit evil and that US policies have nothing to do with it. And that the solution lies with armoured dvisiions, US marines and f 16s- difficult to believe i know, but i think deep down they realise they are wrong, hence the knee jerk dumb ass reponses (like big bros above)instead of real attempts at debate.

I'm afraid I don't see the alleged inconsistancy between the two cartoons. Isn't it possible to both oppose the torture of detainees in our custody, and to support going after al-Qaida relentlessly?

When you meet your enemies on a battlefield, you try to kill them. When they become your prisoners, you treat them with chivalry and mercy. It doesn't matter if they are evil or simply on the other side.

Making the distinction between a battle and its aftermath is part of what is normally called "civilization", and it's (hopefully still) the difference between us and them.

Sorry jonts, but I'm neither a republican nor a Bush fan nor ignorant. But hey, what's a liberal without name calling. As for ignorance I once again invite you to check out for yourself what your friendly neighborhood muslim fanatic is saying about you. Unfortunately, it won't lead to your easy answer of the US is responsible for everything. Instead it will lead you to the far more difficult reality of a group of people who want a world based on the Koran and are willing to kill anyone in their way.

The sophistry of the leftist comments here leave me shaking my head.

First, jonts, this party line you're putting forward is not new, nor is it original thinking. It is, indeed, the party line of weaklings. I live in liberal communities, and I am constantly amazed at the puking out of this standard party line by idiots who then stand back and expect to be applauded as brilliant, original thinkers. You are a walking cliche.

War is sometimes a good thing. War is part of human nature.

Cowardice and surrender get paid back in full.

Your way is cowardice and surrender. Hopefully, you are outnumbered.

One thing the cartoonist probably forgot about...how many of those "dang Muslim rag heads" actually died at Gitmo?

    ZERO!

Of course, lefties aren't one to let facts get in the way of a good rant.
