  • Asleep At The Wheel?

       July 26, 2005

I've seen this license plate before, and apparently it's in reference to the owner's dog, but seriously, who in the DMV missed this one? The standards for personalized plates state that:

Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) may refuse to issue a personalized plate message which may be offensive to good taste or decency, is misleading, or conflicts with the issuance of any other license plates.

Someone in the Wisconsin DMV is asleep at the wheel.

I'm probably going to be sorry I asked, but... what am I missing here? I googled for "giz bomb" and got this, some kind of video game. Is there some kind of obscene connotation I'm missing here?

Sorry... I still don't get it. I'll go have another cup of coffee and see if that does the trick...

Well, we all pronounce it like "Jizz Bomb"

i was pointing out the link only to show that "giz" is apparently an original term of some sort, this company has it in the menu. i have to say, i dont really know what a "jizz bomb" would even be, kris.

jizz Noun. Sperm. Abb. of jism.

yes, kris, i know what that means, im trying to understand what a 'bomb" of it could possibly be. seeing as how it's spelled "giz," id be inclined to think that it's not something sexual at all.

what youre saying is basically like someone saying "com one" then you assering that its sexual because "com" sounds like "cum."

If that is a reference to semen, I can see why they missed it. Pretty obscure. We had one here that made the news:
    IVNIK8
That license plate was around for over 2 years before someone caught on and revoked it. I would have let them keep it, it's not like a kid would ever figure it out and adults should get over it.

The perfect plate, if it were legal to get my windows heavily tinted: COGNITO

James & Laura you two are seriously the ONLY people that don't immediately snicker over that license plate.

    IVNIK8

It took me a while to figure out that IV was 4 not I've. I couldn't see why anyone would be offended by "I've Nikate"... But then I didn't know what nikate meant. 8*)

Seriously, if it's not immediately obvious that a plate is offensive, they should just let it go. It's just another way for the government to mess with us.

smoking gun has a bunch of revoked plates here.

    some: 6Q-2Q , HODAWG, MUFDIV

one of my favorite letters has to be the protest letter that insinuates something to a guy named "dickinson," but im not sure where that is in their archives.
