  • Amazing Race Recap-No More Nerds

       April 05, 2006

Nerds rule, but they don't win the Amazing Race. Tonight, the charming Dave & Lori were sadly eliminated in a Sicilian leg that featured a cool, old amphitheatre, giant swordfish a live band and a dancing Phil!

Lori & Dave started at the back of the pack and never made up any room. In fact, there wasn't a lot of movement between the teams. The Frats and the Hippies finished 1-2 again. Although, I must say, the Hippies are starting to grow on me. They petted a friendly dog, had fun carrying 30 lb. fish through the streets at Catania, played a funny joke on the Frats with an "official" sign up list to get into the amphitheatre and just seemed genuinely delighted to be running the race.

Lake & Michelle, on the other hand, were miserable. Lake bitched the whole leg through and, once again, Michelle tried to talk her way out of another Roadblock. She wasn't successful, which only meant that we had to listen to Lake bitch at her. How fun.

I knew those two would bicker, and I also knew that Monica would lose her cool as soon as the Race got rough. Tonight, she whined about carrying the fish and had a meltdown when she and Joseph couldn't immediately find the vendor they had to deliver the fish too. She recovered fairly quickly, but man, those two don't deal with stress very well.

    Other random impressions:

    • The Frats are much less annoying when they're not talking about women
    • Barry is one hairy man.
    • I loved having a mini orchestra play for the teams as the near the finish mat
    • Sicilian greeter boy was beautiful
    • Phil can't dance.

I miss Dave & Lori already. I loved how in love they are. Nerds rule!
