  • American Idol Final Four Results-Chris Voted Off

       May 10, 2006

Last night, the Idols begged America: "don't be cruel". I echoed their plea because if Elliott's gone tonight I'll be forced to check into Heartbreak Hotel.

Medley time! Doesn't it seem like the show cut down on the medleys this year? I don't understand it. The medleys are the only thing that make the results shows tolerable. This one is particularly fun as it ends with a fun rendition of "Burning Love" as the Idols rock out and dance behind the judges. Note to the producers: we like to watch these kids have fun, not just squirm for the judges.

Speaking of squirming, it's time for the results. Ryan separates the Final Four into two groups: Taylor & Elliott and Chris & Katharine. Of course, if you read Dial Idol you know damn well that Kat & Chris are in the bottom two.

Once again, Dial Idol is right on and it's the "rocker" Chris who's going home. Don't worry Chris, I'm sure Fuel will be calling soon ;-)

Although Chris wasn't my favorite, I was pretty shocked.

So is the spazzmatic Taylor a lock to win this thing? Can you say another
Ruben Studdard? That sound you hear is millions of dollars flying out of the window.

Taylor's not a lock. In fact, he might not have even been the top vote getter last night. Elliott has really closed the gap.

A well deserved departure. Chris was the only one of the final four who got worse as the show went on and by last night he was as irritating to watch as Paris.

chris is better than mcphee, but at least she's more fun to watch. that snake thing she did the other week was strangely entertaining. chris is just the same every week. impressing at first, but as tired and overplayed as the latest live/creed/(insert "alt rocker band here")/fuel song on any top 40 station.

I have to confess that I almost crossed the line and voted this week. I tried to call in for Elliott, but I kept getting busy signals.

I downloaded some of Elliott's performances from Rickey.org and I've been listening to them over and over again today on my iPod.

    I'm such a nerd.

Kris, I think the reason that there have been fewer medley/group songs this year is because they've had so many big names on to promote their latest album (Manalow, Stewart, Wonder, etc; plus the opening two weeks, which had the finalist from last year with their new songs) that have filled the time.

I saw the replay of the announcement on the morning news - Paula does get histrionic when one of her cute boys goes home, doesn't she? Then again, the audience seemed as stunned as the contestants.

    So.... what's next week's motif?

    #  May 11th, 2006 11:19 AM      kris
I bet next week is a "judge's choice" theme. It seems like that's what they usually do when they get down to the final 3.

    kris, are you back?

    yep...back from Cali

ready to mourn Elliott tonight ;-(

    #  May 17th, 2006 5:05 PM      james
    why mourn?
i hvent seen the show yet, but dialidol has him tied with mcphee. why does everyone on the internet not seem to understand the concept of "margin of error?"

    #  May 17th, 2006 5:16 PM      kris
i understand the concept. i just expect the worst
