Wanted: Great Summer Books
Some things are quintessentially summer. There are summer songs, summer movies and summer reads. I've made my list of summer songs. I know the summer movies I want to see (The Break Up, The Omen, Pirates of the Carribean II, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby , Strangers With Candy & You, Me and Dupree ) but I have no idea what to read.
I've come to realize that I only read books on planes and during the summer when I can sit outside. Already this summer I've gotten through Little Children , Replay
and The Miracle of St. Anthony
. I'm thinking about reading Life of Pi
and A Long Way Down
, but after that I've got nothing in the pipeline.
I'm looking for some suggestions. I'd prefer no "Oprah" books, but anything else is fine. I normally read more non-fiction than fiction, so a serious read is just as welcome as a beach book. So dear readers, bring it on.

| Mornings On Horseback by David McCullough- the story of the young Teddy Roosevelt.
Another McCullough book worth reading (if you haven't yet) and its a quick read is 1776. I still want to read Thank You For Smoking too. |

| He Talk Like A White Boy, by Joseph C Phillips. (The actor who played Denise's husband on The Cosby Show.) I reviewed it here, and I was really impressed by it. |

I loved it. |

| I saw a review of this book today: Rumspringa. It's about the period of time during which Amish teens are allowed to experience the wild side before deciding whether or not to commit themselves to being Amish. Sounds great!

| I just finished Life of Pi. I really liked it. I especially enjoyed the first half.
I think 1776 is next on the list. Stay tuned ;-) |

| i read half of "life of pi" a few weeks ago but got bored by it. perhaps i'll finish it by the end of the summer. i have a stack of other books i want to get to first, one being "atlas shrugged," which is like 1000 pages in print so tiny that i'll probably need a magnifying glass to read it. hmm, what else do i have to get to... "lucky man" by michael j fox, simon cowell's book, "foucault's pendulum," a bunch of harry potter books that i picked up for $1. oh, i just got some new book on probability, i forget the name. |
