  • College Football Picks - Week Seven

       October 14, 2006

We're over the hump and on our way to the land of milk and honey. Where's that? I'm not sure, but I hope it's Pasadena! Or maybe San Antonio or Orlando. Anyway, here's hoping for another wacky college football weekend. Let's go!

Minnesota at #25 Wisconsin: I only have a bad feeling about this game because I really don't want to lose to the Gophers. Logically, Minnesota shouldn't be able to handle Wisconsin's powerful running game and won't be able to score on the tough defense. It's Homecoming in Madison and so hopefully nothing will spoil the party. The pick: Wisconsin.

#24 Rutgers at Navy: Does anyone seriously think Rutgers could beat Wisconsin? Anyone? Please explain to me why they are ranked ahead of us. I think Rutgers is a sham and they'll be exposed by the Midshipmen as such. The pick: Navy.

#2 Florida at #11 Auburn: The wiseguys' take on this game is that Auburn will come out all fired up and mad after getting their butts kicked around by Arkansas last week. They're the trendy pick to take it out on the Gators. I think Auburn lost because they're just not that good. Florida, on the other hand, does seem to be that good. The pick: Florida.

UCLA at #18 Oregon: What a tricky game. Every year it seems like UCLA starts off the season with a bang and then limps home once they start playing good teams. The question is whether Oregon is really a good team. They should have lost to Oklahoma and they got stomped by Cal. UCLA's only loss was to Washington. I guess that means I'm going with UCLA. But, not so fast! It's the Pac 10, so therefore I'll do the opposite of what I think. The pick: Oregon.

#4 Michigan at Penn State: Some of you may scoff at me, but I think Michigan is the best team in the country. They'll be without Mario Manningham for this game, but even then they're still among the best teams in the country. Penn State is...not. The pick: Michigan.

+ im really torn on this one. i'd love for auburn to win, and i really love to see the upset, but i have to go GATORS by 20

+ UCLA beats the only team i like in the PAC10. sorry donald.

+ michigan is _the_ most overrated team in the country right now. unfortunately, penn state doesnt get it done this week and it continues for another week. michigan by 17, despite lloyd carr.

    3 out of 5 ain't bad ;-)

as a Badger fan, I want Wisconsin to win out, Michigan to lose once before the OSU game and then beat the Buckeyes. If that happens, I believe that Wisconsin goes to the Rose Bowl. Heh. Then, all the sportswriters will bitch about how Wisconsin didn't play OSU, ignoring the fact that we've owned them in recent years.

James, the most overrated team in the country is easily West Va. #4 without playing anyone? UM, OSU, Fl, Auburn, USC would chop off their heads and play soccer with them.

Now, these are after the fact but I was at Myrtle Beach the last few days without connectivity. So, I would have said:

    Wisconsin by a bunch

    Rutgers by a bit

    Florida by 10

    Oregon by 14

Michigan by 14 with it not really being that close. I now have a good decent respect for Penn State's defense.

And I would have totally missed the Iowa and Georgia losses.

That Iowa loss really sucks. Just what Michigan needs, go into Iowa after they were upset. Thanks Indiana.

Kris, I am starting to believe on my team. They are showing some good stuff, but like Luke, they have to face Vader (OSU). Only then will a jedi they become. Still, that UM defense is good. They are fast and ruthless and that is where the UM OSU game will be decided. Wow, November 18 is looking great. If UM can get by Iowa, OSU and UM should coast to that day undefeated. Dang, that's going to be a good game. Even James has to admit that. :)

    Can't wait until next week.
