  • American Idol Results Recap - The Final 12

       March 08, 2007

It's a hot one tonight as the show kicks off with a Medley of that modern, current and hip song "Stuck in the Middle with You". Next week: "Brandy". Other than proving that nearly all of the Idols suck, the medley features a historic moment as Brandon proves that it is possible for a black man to do the "white man's overbite".

Let's get rid of some people! Safe: LaKisha, Blake, Sligh, Jordin (whew!) & Phil (boo!). Not so safe: Jared Cotter. You know, it's a bad sign when your introduction is greeted with nothing more than polite applause.

But enough about Jared. Let's bestow more praise on The Chosen One: Melinda. She's safe, of course. And so is Brandon---oooh, which means that Sundance or Sanjaya is OUT. Assuming, of course, that Timberfake is safe. He is. And so is Gina.

Carrie Underwood in the house. I'm not a big fan of her music, but she seems like a lovey person, so yay her. Although, tonight she looks a little less sweet and a little more, uh, slutty than normal. In any case, Carrie makes Pickler look like the huge fake (in so many ways) she is, so that's cool.

More culling. Antonella & Stephanie hit the stage together. Antonella Barba, by the way, looks absolutely gorgeous tonight, but she's out and Stephanie-of-the-Pretty-Dresses is in.

Next up for judgement: Hayley & Sabrina. Scrubnato is in and an actual good singer, Sabrina Sloan, is gone. Of course, she's really boring so I don't actually care.

Time for Idol's big announcement. In addition to exposing us to horrific singing and nonsensical judging, Idol is going to preach to us about Africa and poor people in America. Oh, goodie! As if Idol didn't have enough filler... But enough with my cynicism. It's nice for the Idol people and sponsors to try to make a positive difference, so look for big things during "Inspirational Week" from the Final Six. And did I hear that Bono will be on the show?

Ah, but who won't be there with Bono? Sanjaya or Sundance? Sundance Head is out! Sanjaya lives to creep another day! Awesome! I love America. USA! USA! USA!

I missed Idol desecrating Gerry Rafferty? What's next, they all sing Baker Street to Paula (...you drink the night away and forget about everything.)?

What a night. Let's start with the final cut. Sanjaya over Sundance? Are you kidding me? Look, I didn't like Sundance so sending him home isn't a big deal, but keeping Sanjaya? America, WTH? Jared going home? My wife's hottie is gone. She's quit the show. She'll see it next year... Still, Jared going home instead of Phil? Or Sanjaya? Or Brandon? Again, America, WTH? I agree with Randy, America got that wrong.

    Ladies:

Antonella: Let's face it, she sucked and I don't mean in the pictures. She was terrible. Week after week, she couldn't hit a note. VFTW is losing face rapidly. They've proven they can influence diddly squat. Antonella should have gone home earlier, but no one can say she shouldn't go now.

Sabrina: Not the worst one, but let's face it, another generic singer. She also went second and that means no one will remember you unless you rock and she didn't. It could have been her or Stephanie. They're both the same generic Whitney wannabe. Sabrina goes now, Stephanie in a couple weeks.

The next 3 maybe 4 maybe even 5 eliminated will be guys. The last 2 guys will be Sligh and Beat Box Boy. Neither of them will make final 3.

Carrie Underwood is the ultimate American Idol. She's nice, she's clean (no scandals) and you can't help but like her. She just comes across as that nice neighbor or average American. All those awards and sales could be going to her head, but don't appear to be. It's probably her small town farm upbringing. I hope she does well for a long time. We need more people like her in the spotlight. I fast forwarded through her song as I don't like country that much, but quintuple platinum says it all.

Poverty? Wow, at least it's not Global Warming... Still, hey Bono, I'm poor. Care to toss some cash my way? :)

Kris, since UM is going to the "Not in Tournament" tournament, I hope Wisconsin does real well in the NCAA's this year.

Go Red, Bucks, State, Hoosiers and whoever else from the B10 gets in.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

why does everyone think that antonella is so great looking? she isn't. she has nice boobs, but that's about it. dont get me wrong, she isn't a mutt or anything, but all in all, she is a funny looking girl. more than most people even.

First off...I think the back up band on idol sucks. They need the band from that other show with Tommy Lee thats a great band.
    Fargo LOL
    Kris,
Pickler is going to be at Countryfest this year...I thought of you when I read that on a sign.

The backup band does suck. They are incapable of playing anything at a medium pace, or being subtle. They screw the singers over constantly.

I thought I was the only one who thought Antonella was not particularly attractive. She has jowels.

I don't know James/BV, I'll call her a mutt. In particular, a Boston Terrier. Boney, skinny meatless dog that sounds way too annoying. yap yap yap yap yap...

Seriously, there were and are much better than her. (Leslie for one, sigh). Jordin, Haley, heck Melinda for that matter. Ok, maybe that was too far, but no, you are not out to lunch. She wasn't that hot.

On the posative side, having had her life dragged out in the public like she did, I think handled herself well. She didn't break down, lash out or anything. She just rode the waves as far as she could.

Still, it is a singing competition and in the end, she couldn't sing.

I'm still shocked that Jared went. He could sing...

Kris, care to start an NCAA tourney open thread? Go Badgers, Go Bucks, Go Spartans, Go Hoosiers, Go Purdue/Illinois if they make it. We in the Not Invited Tourney hope you do well for the conference.

I thought Antonella was hot. She had a nice figure, good face and really nice hair.

Anyway, yes, there will be an NCAA thread & tourney pool again this year. I'll post something Sunday night after the field is set.
