  • College Football Picks - Week 3

       September 13, 2007

My record so far is a pitiful 8-4. At the start of the season, when teams feast on creampuffs, I should be doing better. Let's go!

Citadel at #7 Wisconsin: The Badgers looked wretched against UNLV. The defense gives up big plays and the receivers all looked like Ed West (couldn't catch a pass if it hit them in the chest). I'm going to assume that it was just early season jitters and that, thanks to Michigan, the Badgers won't overlook any opponents and will step up. The pick: Wisconsin.

#10 Ohio State at Washington: The fact that Michigan sucks doesn't mean the rest of the Big Ten sucks. Washington is the trendy upset pick this week, but even on the road I think Ohio State has the defense to win. The pick: Ohio State.

Notre Dame at Michigan: Do fans of these schools have any idea how much the rest of us love that fact that they're both 0-2? It's a beautiful thing. Saturday we get to find out who sucks more. I think with Chad Henne out Michigan will have to rely on Mike Hart. They'll have a vanilla offense, but sometimes vanilla's just the right flavor. The pick: Michigan.

#22 Tennessee at #5 Florida: Tennessee gave up 45 points to California and 19 to Southern Miss. Florida has scored 49 and 59 points in their two wins (against, by the way Western Kentucky & Troy, so all of you SEC fans can just shut the f up about the Big Ten's "easy" schedule). I think Florida, at home, blows the Vols away. The pick: Florida.

#21 Boston College at #15 Georgia Tech: While Georgia Tech was beating up on some of college football's weak sisters, Boston College was beating a good Wake Forest team. I don't yet know how good GA Tech is, but I think Boston College is probably the real deal. The pick: Boston College.

#1 USC at #14 Nebraska: You've got to respect what USC has done over the past few years. You also have to respect the fact that they're willing to travel to Lincoln. However, you don't have to think they're going to win. I don't. I think the home crowd and the West Coast offense will finally do them in. The pick: Nebraska.

    wisconsin 42-17

ohio state in a close one, 27-24

it pains me to have to pick one or the other, but i'll take michigan by 8. a high scoring affair, since neither team seems to have a defense to speak of. 45-37.

    florida b1g over tenn, 34-17

    BC over GT, 17-9

Nebraska keeps it close but can only hang with the pros for 3 quarters. USC 34, Neb. 17

I'd love to see Nebraska beat USC... not because I necessarily dislike USC, but because Nebraska fans are such good people I'd like to see them return to prominence. I think James is right, though... the Huskers hang for three quarters before USC pulls away (17 seems like too much, but still...)

What? Only week 3 of this debacle? Isn't it over yet? Ugh, ND week. I hate ND week. With the exception of the last couple years, they own our rears...

    Anyway,
Wisconsin and Citadel. I said boring last week, but this one will really be for anyone other than Wisconsin fans. Kris will be happy as UW will score over and over and who doesn't like seeing their team win big?

    tOSU - Wash:
Ok, I was a bit off last week. I thought UW would lose. OSU without Troy Smith is still a good team. Washington has had their "oh, by the way" win last week. They won't get it this week. tOSU by a TD.

    ND - UM.
As ESPN put it, the pillow fight of the season. Neither team is enjoying themselves. But since it is in the Big House and UM has more losses in the Big House than on the road, I'll have to take the real great satan, ie, Notre Dame.

    UT -FLA:
As Kris said: Tennessee gave up 45 points to California and 19 to Southern Miss. Florida has scored 49 and 59 points in their two wins. Doing the math, Florida big. Besides as Spurrier once said, you can't spell citrus without UT! I love that line. Tennessee hated him. I hate UT so Spurrier is my friend once a year.

    BC - GA Tech.
I don't know if either have proven anything, but GA Tech gets my vote because they trashed the Irish. Anyone who does that gets my vote.

    Nebraska - So Cal:
Nebraska is overrated and So Cal is the best. So Cal by a bunch. Tons. Possibly 30.

yeah, yeah, I know how much you are enjoying this 0-2 thing, but one of us has to get at least one win. Anyway, here's hoping it's UM. Good weekend everyone. God Bless.

Yeah I saw that BVBigBro. I'm surfing between GA Tech/BC, FlSt/Colorado and USC/Neb. Although I'm not paying much attn to USC since they pulled so far ahead.

The Badger pass defense was atrocious for the first half yesterday. They absolutely deserved the booing they got at halftime.

I don't know about this team. I know they're built for conference play, but man...

Hey, we'll trade records with ya! :)

No worries. Remember last year. They did great out of conference as well. So I am guessing they will compete nicely in the bowl game this year too.

it's far, far, far too early to be talking about bowl games

I have confidence in Wisconsin. Remember, they beat an SEC power last year. Arkansas was no slouch. They are a pretty decent team and the Badgers slammed them good. They made a real good showing for a supposedly slow midwest team from the overrated B10...

Wisconsin will make a bowl. Even with a collapse. They are 3-0, if they go 3-6 the rest of the way, they get a bid. They will beat Iowa, MSU, Illinois, Northern Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota easily. They will have a fight against Penn State, Ohio State and UM. Even if they lost those three (they won't), they would wind up 9-3 and at a decent bowl.

Y'all will be 6-0 going into Happy Valley. That will be a great game. I think PSU will be undefeated as well (yeah, I think they beat UM Saturday).

Wisconsin fans have some great games ahead. Enjoy. UM fans have had their hurrah this season. It's all downhill from here for us...
