       October 19, 2007

Another undefeated bit the dust last night as South Florida lost to Rutgers. When this weekend's dust settles, who will be left? Let's see!

Northern Illinois at Wisconsin: It's nice that Wisconsin found a team it might actually be able to beat. I think this will be close, but at the end Northern Illinois will screw up and Wisconsin will luck their way into another victory. The pick: Wisconsin

Michigan State at #1 Ohio State: If this was in Lansing, I'd be a little worried about the Buckeyes. In Columbus, however, I think the crowd will help keep their heads in the game and they'll maintain their #1 ranking for another week. The pick: Ohio State.

#14 Florida at #8 Kentucky: Mel Kiper tried to make the argument on the radio this morning that Florida was really the best team in the nation. Hey - they got beat. TWICE! If they were the best team in the country, they wouldn't have lost. All that said, I think they'll actually win this weekend. Kentucky is coming off a huge win over LSU and it's hard to imagine they'll be up for another big game already. The pick: Florida.

#22 Texas Tech at #15 Missouri: Texas Tech QB Graham Harrell, with 31 TDs already, should probably be in the mix for the Heisman Trophy. This is his chance to shine on a bigger stage against a Missouri team that's clearly much better than I give them credit for. Other than in their win against Nebraska, Missouri gives up a lot of points. Texas Tech scores a lot of points. I think this will be a shootout and the team with the better gunslinger will win. The pick: Texas Tech.

#18 Auburn at #5 LSU: Remember back when LSU and USC were shoo ins for the National Championship Game. Yeah, not so much anymore. Suddenly, left-for-dead Auburn is back in the picture. I'd be all over Auburn if this game were in Alabama. Unfortunately, LSU is going to be out for redemption and their crowd will be all liquored up and ready to go. The pick: LSU.

It is going to be a very interesting finish. I can see LSU/OU or LSU/USC in the title game. Asking for #'s 1,2 and 3 to lose is not that much. Especially since #2 dropped last night.

So, did anyone pick the possible BC/OSU title game? Neither did I... I think OSU will be beaten this year and BC still has a couple rough ones. Of all the teams, BC has the easier path.

    On to the picks:

UNI/Wisconsin: I take Wisconsin with or without the points. I think they take out a ton of anger against a lesser team. Going to be ugly. Well, ugly in the good kind of way for Wisconsin fans.

    Michigan State/Ohio State:
I still am not sold on MSU. They hit that ice berg and started sinking, but then tried to right the ship against Indiana. Against OSU they take on more water. A lot more water. OSU big.

FLA/KY: I was all set to say Florida even giving KY the points. But then, I listened to one of those radio show betting dudes who says that at home, KY is always good against the points. So I'll change the pool to KY but am still picking Florida to win the game.

    TT/Mizzou:
Two titans from the big 12 (snicker). Mizzou in a close one because the coin landed tails.

Auburn/LSU: I really feel badly for AU. The pillaging and rampaging that LSU is about to unleash will be one to give nightmares for years to come for those poor Auburn players. I think Auburn will describe the whole game as "Oh, God, Please let it stop. Please..." LSU big.

    Other Cool Games:
Is there anything better than a Notre Dame loss? Really, is there? Well, there is when it's at the hands of their hated rivals like USC. Since the emu is not playing (Claussen), ND will cover the spread, but will go down again and away goes the bowl. WOO HOO!

    Miami/Fla St
Do you remember the days when this game was one of the deciders of the national championship game? The loser was doomed to think about next year? I find it delicious that the loser of this game can easily be looking at 6 losses and the winner losing 5. Since it's at Fl St, I guess we'll make Miami the .500 club member and give the win to Fl. State.

Iowa/Purdue: Both teams are at the cross roads. Iowa loses and it's likely their bowl, if any, is before Christmas. Purdue has lost 2 straight and needs to right the ship soon or their crash will look like Steve Austins in the 6 Million Dollar Man opening. Flipping the coin, Purdue.

    Penn St/Indiana:
Does anyone else think that PSU can play down enough to let IU tag them? I going a very week Penn State on this one.

    Oregon, Washington:
I really think OU is a great team. Of course their systematic destruction of my team may color that a bit. Since Ty Willingham coached ND, I still can't stand him, so Go OU. Big.

Cal/UCLA: Cal is ranked higher, that's fine. But UCLA unranked? I can't see that. They will start being ranked after taking Cal down another notch.

And the upset of the day: Colorado takes Kansas to the lands of the beaten.

Have a great weekend everyone. God Bless.

Hmm. Kris, did you notice we didn't opine the UM/IL game? I thought that UM would lose because Illinoins was beaten and will be mad, but I think that if Mike Hart plays, UM wins. Hart says he will play. UM wins.

BTW, I think if Hart gets 1800 or more yards this year and UM pulls a couple upsets over OSU and maybe Wisconsin, he gets the heisman. I think he's near the top if not at it now.

Wisconsin blows em out. Still, that doesn't mean that the Badgers are any good.

    OSU, 48-17

    Gators chomp the Wildcats.

    Mizzou!

LSU treats those poor Auburn kids like High Schoolers. LSU by 15,000.

Plus I have Oregon big, Penn State, blah blah. This week, I pretty much 100% agree with themandownthehall.
