  • College Football Picks - Week 12

       November 15, 2007

As I write this, Arizona is leading mighty Oregon 31-14. WTF? What a crazy season of college football. What else will happen this weekend?

#7 Ohio State at #23 Michigan: Last weekend against Wisconsin, Michigan looked gutless and chippy. I'm sorry themandownthehall, but I wasn't impressed by their play or their demeanor. Even in the Big House, I don't hold out much hope for them. The pick: Ohio State.

#22 Kentucky at #8 Georgia: When a middling Big Ten team beats a top ranked Big Ten team, it means the whole conference sucks. When a middling SEC team beats a top ranked SEC team, it means the whole conference is deep and awesome. Get ready for more SEC hype. The pick: Kentucky.

#24 Wisconsin at Minnesota: I'll be cheering my Badgers on from the Metrodome. I suspect I'll be doing lots of cheering as Bucky comes away with Paul Bunyon's axe yet again. The pick: Wisconsin.

#5 West Virginia at #21 Cincinnati: West Virginia has kind of slinked through the season. They beat up on Rutgers, but other than that, they haven't done much. This is Cincinnati's chance to get themselves into a really good bowl game. They'll take advantage of it. The pick: Cincinnati.

#18 Boston College at #15 Clemson: The key to understanding Clemson is to know that whenever you think they're going to either make (or break) their season is when they'll stumble (or triumph). Knowing that, the pick has to be Boston College.

Dixon on the sidelines spells doom for Oregon. He's their spark plug. Without him, the engine doesn't work. 31-17 is about 8 points too many for Oregon. It's too bad too. With Dixon, I don't think anyone else beats them. Still, thems the breaks.

    UM/OSU:
I'll step up for my team and argue the chippy. One player had a pair of pf's and should have been sat down for a bit. I'm sure he was dealt with, especially since he single handedly gave Wisconsin their first TD.
As for their play and demeanor, heck they have played lackluster all season. If not for a miracle pair of catches by Manningham, we're on the verge of losing 3 straight. PSU had a bad bounce or 2 or they beat us. Heck, even Minnesota stayed with us for a half of a quarter.
So, does anyone here actually think that UM has a chance Saturday? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller? Beuller? If UM could not put away an injured beat up Wisconsin team, they can't take on a full powered, pissed off from last Saturday OSU team. OSU 42 UM 24. That may be generous. If Mallet plays, make it 63-7.

    KY/GA:
Georgia is rolling. I think they keep rolling. Kentucky is really doing good for a Kentucky team, but they are still Kentucky. Ga wins.

    Wisconsin/Minnesota:
Same question different team. Is there anyone who thinks Minnesota can win this? ... Exactly. They'll be lucky to get a FG.

It's always cool to see your team in person. It's even better to see them win in enemy territory. Enjoy the game Kris!

    WVU/Cincy:
I've been a Cincy fan all season and have been dogging WVU. At least, until the last 2 weeks. Rutgers and Louisville have given teams fits this season and WVU handled them back to back. They very well may be as good as anyone. I don't know. What I do know is I am tired of losing points picking against them. So, eventually even this moron catches on and picks WVU to win.

    BC/Clemson:
Kris, I'm not trying to brown nose here, but that has to be the best, most accurate/insightful comment I have seen on any college team in a long time. TV people ramble on for hours a day without being able to say something as dead on as that. You are correct. Clemson needs it, therefore they will lose. BC it is.

    In other cool games:

Watch Vandy. They always seem to give Tennessee fits. That's my upset call this week.

    Miami/VaTech:
Miami is on a death spirial. I don't know if they will win, but watch them make one last gasp to try to salvage a season against VaTech before crashing into oblivion.

    Duke/ND:
As good as it would be to see the Irish lose to Duke, it's not happening. Weis claims credit for the victory in the post game interviews!

Just tossing this out: Any chance Illinois has a letdown against Northwestern? Can't see it, but stranger things happened this year.

Have a good weekend and Kris, enjoy that game. Hope they win for you.

Ugh, Hart and Henne are iffy and still hurt. They are supposed to play, but who knows how long. Split my predictions. 57 - 13 OSU.

So Kris, how was the game? I watched some of it. Minnesota came to play for once this season, but Wisconsin woke up in time.

I'm in football mourning. Wolves, Lions and Panthers (thanks Bret) all went down. Yick.

According to the radio announcers, Farve had a shotgun was was just shooting holes and picking apart the defense with his recivers. Dang he's good.

Well, it is hunting season ;-)

The game was fun, but our defense just gives up way too many big plays - we can't do that against good teams. The Metrodome was okay, although the "Another Golden Gopher first down!!!" thing they do after every first down is pretty obnoxious.
