  • A Pre-Super Duper Tuesday Straw Poll

       January 24, 2008

With the Republican field narrowed, now seems like a good time to poll our readership (well, those of you who aren't just here to find out who the Green Bay Packers "Bikini Girls" are) about who they're going to vote for in upcoming Republican primaries around the country.

For me, McCain and Huckabee are out of consideration. I'd still consider making a Ron Paul protest vote, but I'd feel dirty about it. I guess that leaves it between Romney & Giuliani. Neither thrill me and I know neither is any kind of real advocate of small government. Giuliani seems to be closer to me on social issues, so I'm leaning towards him. But, like I said, none of these candidates are anywhere close to what I want.

    How about you?

Who will you vote for in your Republican primary?
    Rudy Giuliani
    Mike Huckabee
    John McCain
    Ron Paul
    Mitt Romney

I'm about where you are - I absolutely will not vote for Huckabee or McCain. Huckabee in particular - it's difficult to overstate how much I despise that SOB.

So that leaves me with Rudy or Romney - there are things I dislike about both but I can hold my nose and vote for either.

There are things I like about McCain, but some of the things I disagree with him about are issues that I consider extremely important and I can't compromise on.

I could vote for McCain, but not Huckabee, probably not Romney.

I should have added that to the poll. Hell, I should have added Sunny Lucas too. I think it would have been a close race between no one and a dog.

Sunny Lucas has a very convincing platform. I really despise Huck and disagree with way too much that McCain has done. I will probably vote for Romney, though Rudy is right there too.

Sunny seems to think that having children or not is a government issue, but other than that - I'm down with the Ridgeback.

sunny seems to be the best candidate in the field. which isn't saying much, but still.

My order of preference: Rudy, Romney, McCain, Huckabee. I'll die before voting another shift Arkansas governor into office. McCain is so freaking dishonest I don't know if I could pull the lever for him. I have no problem pulling for Rudy or Romney. None at all. My dream is a brokered convention and JC Watts comes back from Oklahoma and takes the nomination. Tell me he wouldn't rock as POTUS.

My order of preference: Rudy/Romney (interchangable at the moment), Beelzebub, Hillary, Obama, McCain, Huckabee.

    I'd go:

    Sunny Lucas
    Rudy/Romney
    Obama
    McCain
    Edwards
    Huckabee
    Hillary
