  • Vital Idol – Some of Us Are Sick

       February 20, 2008

It’s ladies night. I’m a bit late, but get the luxury of fast forwarding through Shecrest’s fake tan face.

Kristy Lee Cook – “Rescue Me”. She’s very pretty and a very average singer. She’s also a horrendous dancer. I fear the guy vote will keep her like Hayley Scrubnato was kept last year.

Plus Size Model – “Say a Little Prayer”. Yes, she can sing Aretha/Dionne Warwick. I also like her weave.

Alisha Whitaker – “I Love You More Today (Than Yesterday)”. Note, I do not recall the correct title of this song, but she’s working it. She looks a lot like Carrie Underwood, which will likely work against her when the Clive Davis’ of the world get to rigging. I expect her to sail into the top 12.

Amanda Overmyer - “Baby Please Don’t Go”. The world does not need another Amy Winehouse. Thank you.

Amy Davis - “Where the Boys Are”. I have sung a lot of drunken karaoke in my day. I’ve tackled Journey, Meatloaf, “The Pina Colada Song” on a lot of hooch, and I have never, ever sounded this bad. She also resembles a pekingnese.

Brooke White - “Happy Together”. Stupid song. It was stupid last night and it is still so. Nice hair, very Dianne Cannon in Ally McBeal. I hate her tone, and while she’s singing somewhat in key, it just gets to me. Good thing the world hates curly hair. I bet she’ll be out in the next week or two.

A-Train - “Spinning Wheel”? She has the longest name ever, so I’ll call her A-Train. Lots of soul, but not the chops to back it up. Anyone remember Vondell? Yeah, she’s gonna be out soon.

Kady Malloy - “Groovy King of Love”. Fabulous hair and she also looks like Carrie Underwood. And girl can sing. She does sound nervous though. Top 12.

’ - “Piece of My Heart”. I was waiting for someone to take me to church, and she’s doing it, doing it, doing it well like LL. Best of the night so far. I also appreciate the doorknocker earrings.

Ramiele Mulabulay - “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me”. Pretty good with nice high notes, but I think this is an easy pick, I’m curious to see how she does moving forward.

Syesha - “Tobacco Road”. Courageous but bad song choice. It’s too much blues and not enough rhythm and the low and high notes are killing her.
Carly nee Hennessy Smithson – “Sorry Kris’ sister, I have no clue what this song is”. I love me some Irish people. But at the risk of sounding like an arse, this is American Idol. That aside, I think she belongs on a cruise ship somewhere. She’s got negative charisma.

I kind of liked Kady, because she's so young that she doesn't know how to fake being sweet and happy when she's not. She had the perma-bitchface on tonight. I enjoyed that.

My faves (and I honestly only half watched):
    Alaina
    Kady

    Out:
    Kady
    Amanda Winehouse

Ok, they were better than the gay dudes yesterday.

Kristy - Dead mans spot isn't a good place to be. Sang a bad version of Rescue Me. Going home more likely than not.

Joanne - It says something that even the plus sized lady is cute. The male hormone factor is going to be a non factor this year... Joanne sang Say a little prayer. Sucked just a bit less than Kristy. Not starting too good.

Alaina - Blew away Love you more today. Fantastic. Not too bad on the eyes either.

Amanda - BIKER CHICK!- Ok, remeber when you thought I was crazy because I had a thing for the dog walker? Biker chick is this years initial crush... Leather, love the hair. Don't ask. Just laugh and move on. BTW, she was mediocre. But that's ok. Love the choker.

Amy - Worst of the night. From the opening note to the closing screech she was off key. Sucked. My cats ran from the room. Going home. I have a similar POV PMW: My friend and I were busted for shout singing "You can't stop Rock-N-Roll" from Twisted Sister at 2:30 am at college. I don't remember much of it, but I can safely say we were better.

Brooke - Sang and nailed the Turtles. Simon calls her nice. yeah, she can be nice to me all she wants... She'll hang around but will need to stand out eventually.

Alexandrea - A-train (anthony thomas, former UM running back!) - Spinning Wheel - I thought she knocked that one out of the park. Fantastic job. Possibly best to that point of the show.

Kady - tried groovy kind of love. Anything that has the word groovy in it sucks (well, except some Scooby Doo eps). The most you can get on my 1..10 scale is a 7 with that word in the song. She gets a 6. It was ok, but not outstanding.

Asia'H - Piece of my Heart- really good. Everyone in the chat box liked it. She'll go a decent way into the show if she keeps that up.

Ramiele - the Asian girl - Ok, aside from the fact that she was the absolutely best looking lady there, she sang ...say you love me... extremely well. She wound up tied for the best of the night in my ranking. Top notch. Seems classy. Going very far into the competition. Could be final 3 material.

But not if Sayesha has anything to say about it.

Sayesha - Tied her with best of the night with a kick ass version of Tobacco Road. I really don't like the song, but loved her version. She belted it out like a pro. Great singing.

Carly - PSYCHO CHICK! - Wow, those psycho eyes. She looks like she could snap anytime. As I said before she looks like a stalker of the Tonya Harding variety. Crazy to the core. Run far away. She sucked. Badly. Had the pimp spot and blew it. Oh, and Carly, when you say your label vanished, you could have mentioned that they pumped millions into your record and you only sold 378 copies. That may have been why they vanished. She'll be gone soon. Very soon.

    Top 4:

    1t Syesha
    1t Ramiele
    3t Alaina
    3t Alexandrea

    Bottom 3
    12 Amy
    11 Kristy
    10 Joanne

Going home: Amy, Kristy. Kristy is in trouble because the first performer (dead man's spot) goes home over 2/3 the time. Amy blew. Her looks may save her, but they didn't save Maxim Model Becky from season 5. If Amy or Kristy manage to hold on, Joanne is gone.

BTW Kris, what did you think of my evaluation of the Dog Show? Wasn't my Barak/Hillary dog cute in that tie!

I promise I won't pound you with unsolicited emails in the future, but I figured that one was ok as it covered a sporting event.

We'll be covering the results show live at bamapach (we use a coveritlive.com chat box) if you care to join.

    Have a good night.

i know it was 60's night, but given last night's celestial events, i think they should have made an exception for "total eclipse of the heart."

I dunno... it seems like there are too many blonde white girls. And none of them really stood out to me. They seemed pretty same-ish. I really liked Ramiele, and partly for her answer about what her favorite thing was so far. "Hair and makeup" is such a better answer than the cheesy stuff that people usually say. Syesha was my next favorite. I think that one of the white blonde girls and Amy (SHE WAS HORRIBLE!!!!) will be going home.

The lunar eclipse was about 1,000,000 times cooler and more interesting than Idol.

Also - the producers already made an exception for "Jailhouse Rock", which came out in 1957.

The lunar eclipse was awesome. The skies cleared in the evening for us, so we had a super clear view.
