 | A elemtary school teacher assigned his students to write letters to a member of the U.S. military. Student writes letter to soldier in S. Korea accusing soldiers of destroying mosques, etc. (wizbang)

Plus, mosques in S. Korea? Huh? |
| # February 23rd, 2005 4:30 AM Alkicat | Middle School students, while they think they know it all, most don't have a real clue what is going on in the world.
I work for my local school district and I can honestly say that 70%, or more, of the middle school students couldn't even find Irag, Korea or even Washington D.C. on a map let alone know what to say to a soldier ready to be placed in a war zone.
Kids this age only reflex what they are told by the teacher or parents. I believe that these students wrote exactly what they thought the teacher wanted them to write as they were taught by this teacher. They don't have any thought otherwise on the subject.
I was suprised while "news" surfing to hear this story on, (clears throat), MSNBC, and the commentator actually reamed out the teacher and the school for this incident.
It's a shame that teachers, in all levels of education, find it more important to push their political agenda rather than be concerned that the world is ready to go down the drain.
