We have heard this for plenty of times now, and while this is correct for the majority of companies, it is particularly true for the massage industry. With elections happening every few years, you may be enticed to have a debate about politics with your customers. It would be cautious though to keep your views to yourself to avoid any chaos or unhealthy argument especially if you are not sure how a client reacts to such different views. PRIMARY REASONS TO AVOID POLITICS IN MASSAGE TREATMENT ROOMS
1) It is risky and may ruin the reputation of the business.
- The primary goal of massage therapists is to help their clients calm their mind and body. Even if you are in the same party with your client, it does not attend to your main purpose to discuss such a sensitive topic. You will know their body tense, and blood pressure emergence when they show how powerfully they think about an issue. This is quite the opposite from what they trying to accomplish as massage therapists.
2) Your business may experience a dip in the number of clients.
If you have opposing views than your customer, you may notice them doubting you as an individual. People are cautious about who touches them, and if they think like your opinions are so far from what they believe, they may wish to spend their money in a different company.
3) You never know what a person’s political stand is.
In the previous elections, data shows that 52% of the majority of the vote was one way, while 48% is otherwise. That is really near to 50/50. Implying that 50% of the time you could be chatting to someone with opposing political opinions than yourself. In addition, 50% of the time you could be separating customers if you wish to talk about politics. Of course, in some places, the division may be less definite. But if you operate in a tourist-driven city, you really don’t have an idea what a person’s political stand is.
